Just read through all the posts ,
Very genuine posts & some very sad & just shows how widespread this hideous disease is .
Not been to the Doctors for god knows how long , fit as a fiddle & don’t get ill however think it’s time I called in for a well being test or two at my age .
In fact the last time I went to the hospital was after waking up in a skip in the 80s after diving off a roof thinking I was a golden eagle after necking magic mushrooms ! Ha ha
Let’s hope EUA can bring some sunlight into all who have been effected lives & thanks for all links & info on this subject .

Thanks Layla,
It is what it is....
At least no pain with it, which of course can lull us into lethargy.
Not wishing to scare, merely prompt many on here to get to the Doc.
I ended up with 2 full on operations, losing a part of my body.
Then, i still needed 39 consecutive days of radiotherapy.
Still got tail end of the cancer but not currently active.
So all, read my previous post and get yourself to the Doc's, if you fit in the age range.
Don't be proud, it's nothing to worry about, if.......
You get to the Docs, sooner than later.
You wouldn't cross the road without looking.
So, why try and live life without looking.
Get on that phone. Get that appointment.

Great reminder, just ordered a kit. Thanks!
they used to do bowel cancer tests by post - it was great to be able to send s##t through the post instead of receiving it every day.
Wasn’t aware you could do it as a home test cheers .
Thanks Ian & Bellers

At least all this really important health and well being info is keeping the "Short and Distort" brigade quiet this morning.
But for how long ;-)
I buy a psa test off ebay for about a fiver every 6 months. Doc every 2 years. One spot of blood for the homebuy test and a five minute wait. Do it guys.
Sorry about the spelling!!!!
Hi Selecta,
So sorry to hear about your situation.
Don't be so hard on yourself, it's not stupidity. Regular checks obviously help but we all miss screening some part of our health.
A friend of mine has prostrate cancer and had to have chemo, it made him feel worse than the cancer. Seven years ago he told the consultant that he didn't want anymore treatment to which the consultant was flabbergasted. my friend is still here and regularly out fly fishing. He does have extraordinary positivity which i believe has made the difference.
Many thanks for your advice, i've never had the test but will do now.
A useful reminder Ian.
Just had my PSA checked a few weeks ago as my family have a history of prostate cancer - all ok. Often the cancer can exist with no symptoms which is why yearly blood tests are essential. Prostate Cancer Uk website is a useful source of info.
This is really important, we all want to enjoy the winnings from EUA, starting very soon.
I know the thought of being being checked in a very personal way scares or strangely embarrasses middle aged males that consider themselves fit and healthy. Cancer doesn't care how fit and healthy you are, look at how many athletes, footballers etc a role models for prostate and testicular cancer.
Go get yourself checked, it doesn't hurt, takes a few seconds, have a laugh about it with your mates in the pub afterwards and get them to do it as well.
GLA, live long and prosper!!
Thanks Ian, I consider myself to be a very fit 50+ year old. I don’t drink or smoke and I train hard regularly and yet always at the back of my mind is the prostrate issue. Your article has convinced me to go for a test!
As you turn 40, get yourself to your Doctor.
Ask for a PSA test, which is merely a painless blood sample.
If negative, repeat every 5 years.
If positive and above a certain reading, the Doctor will whirr the NHS into action.
Nothing to be worried about, if you follow the above.
If over 40, get yourself to the doc, now and follow as above.
I was checked at 43 negative and then left it
Bit too late when i got to 56 and had it checked!!!
Learn from my stupidity.
