All this time and investment gone to bloody clearing a debt off , what was the point of waiting? what would the new broker rating be? earning forecast? be just a matter of time before they borrow more money until then am out
Had this debate with my son already this morning lol! My view fwiw:
leaner, more focused, and no debt. In return we give up selling a couple of AZN products in the USA (only the USA I think). Looks good to me....Selling in the USA would be risky and costly imho.
So a medium 18-24 month target of doubling/ tripling my investment is where I am. Wont be selling any
Seems fairly sensible to me...
"Many competitor products to the COPD Business are marketed by companies substantially larger than Circassia with far greater financial resources. The market for COPD treatments in the United States is highly competitive and requires significant sustained investment to gain market share. The Board believes that significant investment in sales and marketing would be required to be able to increase Circassia's revenues from the COPD Business to a level where it could potentially become self-sustaining as a business unit. However, as stated above, under any reasonable scenario that the Board has assessed it is highly unlikely that Circassia would be able to refinance the vendor loan and capitalised interest owed to AstraZeneca which as at the Latest Practicable Date amounted to US$149.9 million and is due to be repaid by 2024. The Board has therefore determined that it is in Shareholders' best interests to terminate the Development and Commercialisation Agreement with AstraZeneca and return the rights and assets relating to Tudorza® and Duaklir® to AstraZeneca."
Sounds like they've realised that they're too small to compete in this market, and that they're better off putting all their eggs in one basket. If you're satisfied that they stand to do well on Niox in the long term then seems fairly positive...
"The Directors believe that there is good scope to develop the NIOX® Business further, both geographically and by providing improved customer service and technical support to ensure that users are readily able to maximise use of their devices. Historically, the NIOX® Business has been generated principally from clinical establishments; the Directors believe that scope exists for a more focused approach on CROs and other potential channel partners, including pharmaceutical companies for prescription of whose products a FeNO test may in certain instances be indicated."
If you're expecting a short term return then I think you stand to be disappointed, but I'm keeping this as a medium/long term investment -- not planning to sell any time soon. We may have a turbulent time until Covid-19 is over, but I think we'll see an improvement after that.
Just my opinion though - I'm VERY new to this trading lark so happy to be corrected by people more in the know!
Morning JH, Well this is a bit of a surprise. Would value your thoughts on good or bad and what to do ?
Forgot at least I have holdings in AstraZeneca so I’m happy.
I’m getting out now as I think the sp will drop then revisit in about 8 weeks. Good luck to all I may be wrong but I haven’t lost any money so playing it safe.
It's a free option for AZN to hold on to their shares.....wouldn't be surprised if they monitor how Niox develops and then bid for the rest of the company...expect shares to return to 30p+ now it's a cleaner and leaner business...management must have high conviction on Niox working otherwise they wouldn't have gone all in. Throw in the prospect of a large US settlement on Lungfit and it's looking rosy. Also, the lack of a trading update means all is well as they would have to inform market if any material change...
Yup, I sold a few at about 24 as it’s not the direction of travel I was expecting. Left a modest holding in to see what the company can do from here when it’s debt free. Feel a bit disappointed as I held from 18 to 30 without selling, but it’s a bigger return than I would have got in a Bank I guess.
Why don't some of you read the rns before uttering. The company will become debt free. They still have NiOx. I should have thought a 40%: increase would please most. For the person who wanted lth for retirement look at bioventix.
cashfornuthin , think they would have to or it would crush the SP if they sold. AZN was the reason i invested here . Really disappointed as this was going to be my LTH.
Azn are keeping there shareholding.
that's what i thought..
not sure how anyone could take this kind of news in this type of market as negative...
No debt is terrific news but they have given up on the drugs i was invested here for so im out. Good luck folks .
Yup, good reaction from the market so far.
Seems to be.
overall pretty neutral / slightly positive - means we will be completely debt free - with a portfolio of a good strong revenue generating product in a growing market , cash generative and c £14m cash in hand.
the two astrazeneca drugs looked pretty cash consuming , so removes a bit of a drain of resources.
would have been nice to see some clarity on lungfit but interesting that they mention it as one of their products with US marketing rights still - i cannot see them loosing this claim without settling for a large pay out - for a minimum of what we paid .... that wuld support the sp itself nearly.
overall net positive i think-
Interesting news this morning. Debt of circa £150m goes.....along with the US market for the specific products. £66m market cap. Time to work out future potential.
good news for shareholders

Remember Buffett be greedy when others are afraid.
Bit of news and big rise like the other pharmas.atb
Will investigate all....and I agree entirely re Woodford. Good selections but timing slightly wrong....and everybody was impatient for immediate results as always
Fidelity Special Values (FSV) have a large stake in Imperial Brands (3.76%). Might be worth a look. The manager has increased his gross gearing to 127% so must be seeing value out there....
i have bought a couple of other ex Woodford stocks...Allied Minds (Crystal Amber have bought a massive slice). They are a tech incubator. And NSF ...doorstep lender plus a lot more...(someone is building a big stake imho and there is potential industry consolidation in the offing (Amigo and Prov Financial to name but 2). Not advice at all...but Woodford choice of investments cant all have been ****e can they lol?
Just checked my average, 21.9 so sincerely hope you are right. Enjoyed reading your insightful comments. Good luck ! Am taking a small punt during this period on shares I have never touched before as were so expensive. Examples being Coca Cola and Imperial Brands. Jury out to see whether a wise or foolish move in times of such uncertainty
