The hall of Shame more like!!
No link to Shamus there I promise.....
Yep Mark their in a meeting. Every third Tuesday they have the deramper of the month award. The team member who has best demonstrated continuing negativity towards otherwise healthy shares gets a baseball cap as a reward. Those who are successful twice in 12 months enter the hall of fame.
Tumble weed......
Derampers Assemble?
Just the way I like. Less green on the Chat Board and shedloads on the Share Chart ;-))
They´re all in a meeting
Anyone else noticed that it’s eerelie quiet on the derampers front?? Have we turned a corner??
Time will tell on the closing times in UK front.
I think we’re getting a little caught up in small details though. The share price will go up or down based on bigger things... such as US states continuing to open and remain open and then the biggie..... results day Thursday!
The share won’t be affect by 15% of our venues turfing out before 10pm or stopping serving at 10pm....
Amen to that.
Anyhoo guys
The 10pm rule affects 1,000 screens out of 9,500 screens.
So I wouldn´t get your knickers all twisted up about it !
@In2winit
i´m glad you love it !
It is confusing when we have different messages (England, Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland) and then rules for temporary lockdowns in some locations. However, at the present moment of time, this is positive for cinemas as they practice social distancing and remain open.
The rule of 6 - well, I would rather have a family event in a cinema instead of sitting and working in the house with all the mental health challenges. Government cannot control what we do behind closed doors and therefore, impose the rule of 6 but are encouraging normality with social distancing measures. Challenging times for us all though and vaccines are the game changer which the governments are hoping for.
@INVEST
Please see last post. I don't think anyone knows what the hell is going on...
I guess we will find out very soon!
Damodubya do you have a link to back the 10pm everyone has to be out the door statement?
I haven’t seen that yet. It is my assumption that (just like last orders in a bar) customers would be able to finish doing what they’ve paid for before leaving?
Completely happy to be proven wrong if you have a link to share?
To clarify further... I've spoke to Cineworld and they have now taken the stance that (after government advice)...
"Though bars and restaurants are affected by the new regulations, the majority of our cinemas are not and we'll still be screening films as planned for the time being."
My heads spinning!
A quick look on Cineworld website for times later in the week and they seem to be as close to 22:00 finish as possible.
TeneT (longest film currently, 150mins) last showing I can find is 20:30 start (23:00 finish approx.), be interesting to see if they cancel any of these in the next day after the new guidelines announced earlier.
...apologies... in lockdown areas.
10pm closing has already been addressed.
Cine has already emailed out that films must be finished BEFORE 10pm...(3rd time lucky)
Last showing for Tenet would be 7:15pm (ish)
In2winit.
If last orders are 10pm then this doesn’t really have an impact on cinema.
How many films start after 10pm and how busy are those showings?
I really think we’ll only be able to form a proper opinion on the impact (if any) once there is a little more clarity on the guidelines.
I’m not disregarding your post by any means. It’s actually very valid (for 15% of Cine’s screens and for post 10pm showings in those screens)... but I think it will have far less impact on takings than you may think. Only my opinion though bud and I do respect yours.
Mark, I love it that for every view you jump down the throat and call it deramping.
Are we to ignore everything that has a negative conitation. I'm just stating fact, not that it impacts my long term view and will certainly be holding on to my shares if not even topping up.
We'll see on Friday who is a deramper, but I know that cinemas are current review g film times. No wonder I only have 16 posts.
@stuartv I tend to agree. I think the 10pm curfew applies to all hospitality venues (that was my take on it).
But to me that’s a positive for the 15% of Cine business based in the UK. They can trade under Covid guidelines until 10pm.
There no doubt will be grey areas... like ‘is the last entry 10pm’? Do they stop serving food at 10pm but customers stay until their film is finished??
If that’s the case then the impact on opening hours is tiny!
Could have been a lot worse so relaxed overall. I think BoJo’s new rules apply to hospitality venues. Cinemas fall into that category. I would like to be proven wrong though. The doomsday derampers must be gutted. Today would have been the land of milk and honey for them if their predictions of a total lockdown had come to fruition.
@in2win
Don´t affect the 8,500 screens outside of the UK.
You´re new to de-ramping - 16 posts
Hospitality venues
Good news for now but can change if areas is not controlled
