Thank you Chriss,
My compliments and good wishes to your wife, please assure her that I'm not too old and haven't given up yet, although I despair at the actions of some of the worlds so called leaders and governments, but I am given hope by the ongoing work and achievements of those organisations and individuals that are striving to save the planet for us, future generations and all its other inhabitants.
Hi Lynny,
I Have sat on both sides of the table as a TGWU union officer and then as a senior local government officer and I can assure you I never whined whichever side of the table I was sitting on, after my promotion my chief officer remarked that I was on their side now, I replied that i was on the side of the truth, treating people fairly and decently and what was right, he laughed, slapped ,me on the back and said I told them that a leopard never changes it's spots, well I didn't and have no intention off doing so now.
I have strong opinions and t's no good ****ing down my back and trying to tell me it's raining, but that is not to say that I won't listen to the other side, if they can put forward a reasonable argument as to why I should consider changing my view or opinion, or even agreeing on a compromise.
I'm still waiting to hear what advantages have really been gained by leaving the EU and why our present government is fit for office when the prime minister seems incapable of telling the truth and his cabinet behave like a bunch of shysters who are intent on making whatever personal fortunes they can out of exploiting their privileged positions of office,
Everyone is entitled to their opinion or point of view, unfortunately some people are unable or reluctant to do their own proper research or seek information from a variety of sources, but instead put on their union jack specs and swallow copies amounts of tabloid biased propaganda on which to form their misguided or biased opinion.
Not that I make any assumptions or accusations regarding any members on this forum who may or may not read the Express, possibly even support the present government, Billy Liar Boris or his mate Lying Farage.
Still great that Centamin appears to be making a come back!
Aoife I agree with your last post.
There are many times I disagree with Mr.T. But he does seem sincere in his views.
He is not a manipulator, unlike many others.
We all have views ,it makes life interesting.
Everyone needs to, "agree too disagree" ,and leave it at that.
You cannot change others strong views , it's impossible.
Everyone ,enjoy your weekend.
No Arfur you can't buy tunnocks because when you mentioned them the other day my first thought was who makes them is it premier foods so I checked it's a privately owned company. I did buy some though as I have not had them for years so you could be an ambassador for them. Take care good luck next week Lynn.
Chriss and Lynny
I always enjoy reading Mr T's posts. I think he is a very serious man whose heart is in the right place. If i were in any sort of trouble, he would be the kind of honest, caring soul I'd go to for help. He would certainly be an improvement on my local vicar (female) who came to see me about 3 years ago and ate 3 out of 4 Tunnock's snowballs and talked mostly about herself. I ended up consoling her!
Can you buy Tunnocks shares?
Have a nice weekend
Aoife
Mr Tibbles do you ever stop whining. I like the way you just mention Egypt and Africa at the end, those bastions of human rights and wonderful living standards you are such an hypocrite as you sit looking at your shares.
Absolutely agree Spindler with your opinions and your thoughts on the how the governments have reacted to the pandemic, you are quite right they are so desperate to be seen to do something anything ,as long as they can avoid blame by the tabloid media and Facebook of being responsible for someones death that may result in them being kicked off the parliamentary gravy chain!
Of course nobody really knows how effective or what could be the long term effects of these vaccinations that have no doubt been injected into countless laboratory animals during testing the results of which are in the main completely unreliable or less than useless!
In the meantime the pandemic has provided an opportunity to hide the failures of our present government and an opportunity to push through normally unacceptable draconian laws and measure's that deny so many people their civil liberties, freedom of movement and impose open prison like conditions and even solitary confinement on those that are deemed at high risk.
The pandemic has been used as an ideal opportunity by some businesses and plc's to cut staff and withdraw customer services , close retail shops and outlets and claim vast amounts of money from the government via support packages that are not only ill conceived and unfit for propose, but open to fraud.
I know of people who have been waiting for over two years to have supposedly non life threatening routine surgical procedure's carried out who are now being told to expect to be waiting four years plus, all the while their quality of life is affected and possibly this will lead to additional or other on medical complications and conditions of a more serious nature.
Not bad results from Centamin , although it was disappointing that some Egyptian negotiations are still ongoing and there was a lack of any real updates on West African projects!
Good to hear that you were able to buy back in at a better average!
I have mentioned before I had weak hands because my buy in price was way too high and when i woke up in Greece one October morning saw all my profit evaporate i decided to leave at quits with my shirt. I was kicking myself that i missed a major sale about a month before by a senior cey member. I have followed cey ever since and thanks to a lot og gen from this board jumped back in at 1.05 and spent what i sold for when i bailed. I now have circa 55% more share than i had before. I was tempted to go deeper into cey but keeping this as my goldilocks level. Now feel happy with my holding and decison to get back in
you do realise if we did nothing most of the average Joe's would still be alive ? about 99 percent of them
When the plague came to town hundreds of years ago...if you were fit and healthy and young you had a 50/50 chance unfit, old, infirm you were done. I shudder to get into a debate on vax's but without vaccinations 99 percent plus would survive. Heck there are 1930's born and the first boomers who have had Cv19 and brushed it off, many not even that well or fit. Many have had it and don;t even know it circa 45% in all age groups. Even in the 60's and 70's they would barely have noticed this so called pandemic and let it run it's course. They say 3 million dead wordlwide of who many were just going to pass from something. My own doctor said all on his watch were infirm and over 82. Now i acknowedge some get caught out unluckily by a bad reaction or are vulnerable in any age group. But i believe history would not acknowledge this as a pandemic in anyway shape or form. Now we are injecting rushed vaccines into people for who cv19 is a nothing burger, I wonder what people from the past looking forwards would say to this ? Eu or no EU it had it's pro's and con's...I'm not sure if we were in the Eu still it would have made the slightest difference to how we handled this...i am pretty sure it would not have. The streets around here are full of the Boomer generation and the gen above...most who have had at least one vax..this virus has hardly dented their numbers....what ths has always been about is the govt fear of being blamed for excess deaths which have been tiny in comparison to the wild bs from the likes of Neil Fergusson wh has been wrong on everything ...since forever....the out of control media would video people passing in hospital car parks like they would broadcast right up t the end of armageddon and that would get the govt blamed...it goes to show what lengths they will go to avoid blame and stay in power...yes the nhs couldnt have coped....but cv19 is really just a bit more potent than the flu in most cases.... The thing nobdy wants to acknowledge is we have so many people living through their 70's and 80\s and beyond than we have ever had before.
Anyway back to the egyptian miner :) I saw the Bank of America upvote ..good stuff
Hi ZambIanminer,
It isn't the UK "Per-se " that I am criticising as such, but the present government, the prime minister, the cabinet and the present electoral first past the post system.
Our government lies and despite it's claims erodes our freedom's .
I fail to see any advantage in not being in the EU, certainly not for smaller UK business that want to export, or even import.
You would find if you care to check back on my posts I have never said the the EU is perfect or a utopian society, I acknowledged that it had faults like our UK. but that the way to change things was from the inside , by writing to our MEP'S, but we have now been denied that opportunity by our government!
Eygpt may have a dictatorial regime, but Centamin behaves responsibly, pays it's due's and does what it can to treat it's employees fairly and contributes in many ways to the local community.

It is true that the vaccine role out for the UK was much speedier and less red tape due to Brexit
So the average Joe is alive ........he's not waiting for the EU to determine who, when and where for a vaccine...so that is the clear advantage you are looking for
MrTibbles, you are completed blinded in your love of the EU. Nothing the UK does in your view is for the greater good. Such a shame that you run this country down at every opportunity. I dislike our current bunch of politicians as much as you. All three parties. However you can see no good at all yet are happy to invest in a company located under a dictatorship with a questionable human rights record. Maybe you should get in touch with them?
Not strictly true, the UK always had to option to decide on choice of vaccine and inoculation program.
It is true that, in general, regulation of new medicines is done on an EU-wide basis. But that does not take account of the emergency provisions in EU law.
At the government briefing, Prime Minister Boris Johnson was asked whether the UK's vaccine approval was down to a "Brexit bonus".
He refused to answer directly and thanked the NHS and the Vaccine Taskforce instead.

So still waiting to learn what are the advantages of not being an EU member to "Joe"!
Tibbles,
if the UK was still in the EU we wouldn't have over 32million vaccinated.
We'd still be arguing about which vaccine and how many
Thats how the 'average Joe' as you put it has gained..ie he is still alive!
Hi Spindler
I think many of our parents generation had also been to some extent brainwashed by the war/ post war rhetoric and "Pathe News", the working and housing condition's for many were appalling and they never really had much. if any say if any in what the government did, even before joining the EU.
Hi Spindler,
I'm still waiting though to learn how "Joe" has benefited by leaving the EU.
The sovereignty Joe now has seems more akin to a dictatorship run by liars!
With the number of over 55's that are going to be off in the aftermath of the pandemic (at least that will be the excuse used by some firms) and outfits like "Boohoo" that only want a brand name and then dump the shops that employ people a basic universal income makes sense.
Far better than giving our money on the cheap to banks to give it to people so they can spend some of it in local shops and businesses.
House prices still rising due to so many cheap mortgages, so no chance if interest rates ever going up or the whole house of cards collapses!
Luckily brexit doesn’t affect our share price now other than it affecting the pound rising or falling, so not really pertinent to Centamin, or arguing about here, or other than if you think it will go badly how much the pound will fall so Cey rise comparatively and vice versa. Far mor important our results, the ounces and costs, which turn out to be once again a pretty damp squib, with no new news other than slightly less than expected costs this quarter, more than made up for in the next three quarters, moving the price neither way
What is hysterical I have had a few situations when trying to debate from both sides I am naturally accused of being an anti Eu Brexiter...so i just start talking to them in German...that usually completely blows their brain
If you had told my parents and millions like them the Common Market meant loss of sovereignty and diktats from Brussels...it would have been game over for the project...and i think it would have been better for us and better for the EU.
Germany took a turn for the worse with Merkels unilateral decision to let in a million mostly male refugees ..caused all kinds of problems that and now behind the scenes they are taking a very different and tougher line on that for those who liked about their origins...won;t learn German and won;t work....much prefer the swiss model...lots of referendums....heck they are so gorwn up they turned down univeral basic income.....that would have been a vote winner here
As I said I have always been caught in the middle on this one . Mr T with all respect it's clear this is not the case with you, and the lies were told from both sides. E.G Mark Carney housing crash etc etc, the list is endless.
I rememebr very well the vote on the common market, the average Joe thought it was just that a Common Market agreement, not a loss of sovereignty and a federal union. Some wag tried to tell me once oh it was all in the detail...buried in the detail and not obvious to the common Joe. It's like all thee companies saying accept or reject our new terms and conditions that their lawyers spent months worrking on....oh yeah paypal i'll have my legal team have a look at that...Accept now to buy those socks...
Hi Spindler, the people were misled by lies and and political rhetoric from those with very vested interests who continue to gain personally by leaving the EU, our PM and some f his cabinet continue to lie more than they tell the truth, and they continue to get away with it because those that voted for them can't believe or won't admit they made such a mistake in voting for that he lovable showman who is a bit a of a laugh !
Have to agree with every word you say. On the Eastern European point I was working in govt at the time and nobody thought that not having restrictions and limits was a good idea but ministers went ahead anyway, overnight all the asylum claims from Poland, Lithuania etc went away.
The same is going to happen with HK as the Chinese govt assert more control more BNO, BOTC passport holders who could only previously stay in the UK for a maximum 6 months are going to file for permanent residency and then we will have another immigration influx. Only this time it will be educated middle class HKers instead of working class Europeans.
To be honest I was always split around brexit, I thought the EU had got to be and too ****y and undemocratic and was full of political power jockeys like von Rumpey, Barnier et al who who utterly deaf to the man in the street. At the same time I am aware of what a rotten corrupt undemocratic country the UK actually is. The latest examples of Cameron , Han**** just an example. For these pigs one trough is not enough to stuff your snout into they run around as many troughs as they can. So outside of the EU i expect this just to get worse as they pump up their asset bubbles like housing for builder and banker mates enslaving avergage Joe in debt. Boris jumped on brexit for his own ends and then promptly like Blair did with Eastern Europe made the decision to award possibly 3 million passports to Honk Kong Chinese without asking the public. Oh and the estimates only 80k were come reminded me thats what labour said about the eastern europeans. Unless you have assets and money life in the UK is going to hell in a hand basket. Its a corrupt tory dictatorship and there is no alternative on the other side of the house. Kudos to that publandlord for telling it like it is to that establishment puppet Starmer. The media destroyed Corbyn for their tory chums how is that any kind of democracy. I now regretit;s not as easy as it was to dump this corrupt cesspit in my wake.
Opposition parties in Westminster are pushing ahead with plans to force a vote on whether Boris Johnson should be investigated for a "consistent failure to be honest" in parliament.
Six opposition parties have written to Commons speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle urging him to allow a vote.
