If the proof of concept works, is the 'grail' within reach. The whole national effort needs to be employed now. This is a war we are battling. Sooner politicians realise this the better. Response of lighthouse labs running out of students to run the tests because someone forgot that they would go back to university speaks volumes.

Once proof of concept is validated, I really hope TTP and other Organisations get involved. It's in the national interests that they do. The alternative is postulated by Simon Heffer ,"The confrontation with those who believe death and disease are optional must then happen"

OMG!!
This test is mega important now.
Test, test, test
Tomvisual these are not normal times so assuming proof of concept how long could they realistically make the test available in?
"national immunity"

Students demanding money back as they are locked down. Mental health in such a closed space environment has been overlooked. Such a simple calculation was not modelled!

I can see this rapidly getting out of control

Rant ended.
The country needs a 5 minute test.
Hoping Paraytec/Sheffield University proof of concept due early October is the stepping stone to deliver a fast 5 minute test to prevent a nightmare
unfolding. Otherwise, it's survival of the fitest in the race to "national immunity".

Guardian reporting that University Unions calling for University education to be done remotely
https://www.theguardian.com/education/2020/sep/25/halt-in-person-university-teaching-until-test-and-trace-fixed-union-urges
Hard to argue with Jo Grady's points.
So lots of Universities going their own way to test students.
More or Less (Radio4 statistical programme, see Sounds, "Schools and coronavirus, test and trace, maths and reality" (6th Sept 2020 @ 5:45 in) reviews one model (from the University of Swansea, by Prof Alan Dicks) predicting a R level to be 3 in the University population!!!! That's correct 3!!!! This could result in 50,000 deaths.
Perhaps assumptiins are extreme, but reviewer (Kit Yates) is nervous. This is all predictable. Herd Immunity? Looks like it to me.
Hopefully, the Paraytec/Sheffield University Proof of Concept is successful. Would Sheffield University roll this test out on campus as a matter of urgency?
This rapid 5 minute test is exactly what is needed in the war against covid. Lots of deaths predicted now by Government models. Come on Paraytec/Sheffield University your product is needed!!! Your time has arrived!
