I agree mate :)
Interesting link Jay thanks, must be them then :-) Chris Whitty mentioned the wellcome trust... Ultimately it doesn't matter despite the frenzy on here. I'm surprised they're saying they're agnostic to sample type as it's clear that saliva is the easiest to get, but then possibly harder to develop. I also don't see how you can be agnostic as the test optimisation would be different. To me it looks like they're on a different path. They're working with global charities and they'll make use of ODX manufacturing. Good luck to them and ODX, but I don't really care about them...
Anyone and everyone that can produce a saliva LFD will sell everything they make as it's desperately needed the world over. There's no competition, there's no desperation to be first to market. We need sir Al to do exactly what he's doing, get the technical risk removed and everything else will take care of itself.
PL regarding Mologic as u know its a bit of a closed shop info wise, but there is a recent youtube video with a chap from Mologic stating their lft is looking to get CE mark in October.
However they potentially have both swab and saliva lft in the pipeline so I dont know which the CE will refer to.
Its here from 10mins mentions oct CE and they are agnostic to the sample, swab or saliva its really about ease of use.

Even if it is the Saliva one Avacta are still not far away and with the Gates foundation connection and funding I would say they will have commitments for initial production.
I believe odx and particularly AVCT will do very well.
Apologies yeah he's the CSO.
He’s the CSO. Chris Whitty is the CMO. I agree, both definitely worth listening to more than Boris. I appreciate the many attempts to suggest it’s Mologic, but they’re months behind and they’re planning on giving their volumes away to charity. Awacta are definitely speaking to the govt in relation to 30m tests a week so I’m sure that once they’ve resolved the logistics they’ll switch from the imported swab tests to the saliva based at home game changer
PL, great to have a thread focused on what the CMO said because its almost certain to be entirely accurate. With reference to the threads focused on whst Boris said you would have though people would have leant by now. Boris is not only a bumbler but a proven serial bull****ter. It doesnt mean he is lying a out what's coming but as in other speeches its no doubt that he will have conflated different types of tests with different timelines. The mologic antigen lfd may be ready sooner or may not be. But in any event both will come to market pretty close to one another and there are good reasons related to the quality of affimers to think that Avacta's will outdo Mologics on quality if they ever get to the point of competing in a market that is unlikely to get demand sated until the virus is almost completely suppressed.
I agree, you have to be one of the board 'snitches' to use the 'Aw' word. Snitches get stitches. Don't anger the 'Awanchor' illuminati.
The percentage of incorrectly taken samples is the reason it’s not suitable for mass screening. Well done her, but not everyone is willing to almost puke up and experience self inflicted discomfort to get a good sample
‘No one will be ramming a swab in their brains at home.’
Well they do, my niece has just had an at home nasal test. Followed by near vomiting!
The more appropriate point is once tried never again! Step up saliva!
Trek
Ps. Yet again an earlier thread disappeared, my iAbra email, ‘turnstile test’ was only for info and had no personal details. It’s not a direct threat to Avacta and can be viewed on the TTG bb if anyone wishes.

Can we stop with this “Awacta” p!sh yet?
I’ve zero concerns about the trials with the 20m swab LFDs, that’s about trialling and sorting out the logistics of rapid tests. It’ll also let them test locally and understand better the impact that mass screening can have. Their desired approach for mass screening, as Boris has just said, is AT HOME testing. No one will be ramming a swab in their brains at home. The roll out of at home testing will be a saliva based LFD and that is Awacta.
Brilliant PL . Boris is just a lying chancer. How dare he get peoples Hope's up like that
Agree PL75.
We are not ready yet but we will be and as many of you have rightly pointed out, there will not be enough tests that can be produced by one BIO to meet demand in the short term.
Might have missed another poster highlighting this (not sure that I have) but there is one line that Boris used that Sir Al has also used.
The Covid test will determine whether you are "INFECTIOUS" or not.
Isn't that why our test is unique?
Is it us?
Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life
Top post PL75
Is it us though?
Well said PL, the holy grail test is greatly awaited with demand being an order of magnitude above pcr.
Blah blah blah.... ‘third, the new testing approaches. The idea of faster near person testing which has been difficult up until now and it wasn’t certain we would get there. It’s now looks real as if that’s going to come online. So those three things together are concrete, you can see therefore the advances that are likely to come in to play over the next months and certainly by next year and spring and beyond, you’ll start to see the effects of some of those’
Different language to Bojo, suggesting nothing immediate. We know they’ve bought a load of swab LFDs and we know there are rapid test trials including the army led trial in Redcar. I’m sure the optimism is based on Awacta and equally sure the immediate plans are not Awacta. No new news today for me, but it’s always nice to hear the main plan to get out of this mess is rapid at home testing. That is Awacta.
