My thoughts were that they could borrow the Juelich or Acciona systems for the duration of COP26, but that would be difficult if they already shipped them ahead of announcing delivery (as per the ABB RNS) before or during COP26.
Agree, and doesn’t surprise me with this useless bunch in govt., “sufficient foresight” is largely absent. Also, remember the capital markets event where AB made clear AFC is not reliant on govt. support, nor will AFC be waiting around for tens of years in case hydrogen infrastructure gets built. AFC strength is off the use of ammonia and a ready made fuel supply infrastructure and industry in place today. And the commercial partnerships in place.

"How do you know it was 3-4 weeks Haggis?"
Because the news about the COP26 EV charging issue appeared in the news a week or two ago, and COP26 starts on 31 October.
My thoughts exactly Junior3564
I wonder if they could get the extreme e set up back from sardinia in time for cop26
It looks like the 20kW system that was used on the Dunsfold to Dundee EV roadshow .....so very unlikely that it could charge the whole fleet in one go .....but as a demonstration system it was deemed a success.
The FC could charge batteries when not charging cars. The batteries can charge the cars when they need it. The cars wouldn’t need to be fully charged all the time just as an ICE car doesn’t need a full tank of fuel.
Looks like a complete system to me BumbleB2 .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjxkODtpPdE&t=160s
Totally agree Klunk, they need to get the system that was used for Prince William up to gleneagles and drop it off outside the front door.. free of charge. Get the world leaders attention on what British technology can do for their infrastructure problem.
haggismchaggis1....AFC were ready to demonstrate a system at the British Motor Show.... only a lack of staff prevented that from taking place ....so there must be a completed system somewhere ?......we also saw a system shown to Prince William at Knockhill back in May .....even if AFC could have shown one system operating at COP26 it would have been an enormous endorsement.
Klunk,
They probably would have, but the issue is that AFC don't have FC systems sat on the shelf for last minute deployments like this. Given 6 months it would probably have been possible to fast track a build for it, but finding out the issue 3-4 weeks before COP26, leaves them no time to do that, whether ROLEC were part of it or not.
With ABs comment ‘With sufficient foresight ".....who is he criticising ? Would Rolec have made any attempt to help AFC support the COP26 vehicle recharge effort ?.....Rolec are still listed as supply chain partners ... https://www.afcenergy.com/supply-chain-partners/
AFC's first bit of COP26 PR, who'd have thought it would be something that's not on the list LOL!
News flow in Q4 2021 calendar year (the short and sweet version). Some of these have been announced as 'expected' by AFC, others are possibilities.
Sales of FC systems (expected)
S Series 'membrane' FC, full scale prototypes (expected)
FC System delivered to ACCIONA (expected)
FC System delivered to Juelich (expected)
Ammonia Cracker (possible)
Alkaline Electrolyser (possible)
Redox Flow Battery (Alkamem) (possible)
Salt Water Battery (Alkamem) (possible)
Direct Ammonia Anion Exchange Fuel Cell (Alkamem) (possible)
Chlor-Alkali Plant (possible)
Fuel Synthesis system (Alkamem) (possible)
NDAs .....you’ve been drinking too much Tennants
Fuelcell. He is not silent……on the things he is allowed to talk about.
The stuff under NDAs will come out when the primary partner in the relationship is ready to launch.
I imagine we might hear some of those announcements over the COP period……just don’t expect them all on day 1.
Loads of good stuff coming here……too many grown ups eg ABB investing so much money for it to be anything otherwise. Price of playing with the big guys….we dance to their timescales. Patience.
It‘s probably garonne or daz judging from the insecure profile picture
AB sounds like he was confident that there was enough manufacturing capacity to have been able to supply enough FC chargers to keep all the COP26 EVs charged up if AFC had been contracted to do so. Based on that assumption, there shouldn't be any issues with preparing the kit for Acciona and Julich. Looking forward to hearing about the successful completion and delivery of both contracts. Should be soon.
About time AFC started banging on doors, instead of taping
Crikey, looks busy.
I think he was trying to show off his Tesla. Shame he bought it in the worst colour possible!
The Twitter poster called "Stu" should join this bulletin board, although maybe he already has!
"Pushing adverts for Hydrogen companies as news now? Bad form guys. AFC were bad enough for writing it in the first place but you give it more publicity?"

At least AFC is not staying totally silent about COP!
https://airqualitynews.com/2021/10/21/evs-at-cop26-hampered-by-lack-of-charging-points/
Electric vehicles (EVs) at COP26 could be powered by external combustion generators due to a lack of available charging points, according to AFC Energy.
The company has said that the UK has missed an opportunity to showcase our climate credentials to the global community.
The UK is projected to have over 23 million EVs by 2030; amounting to the equivalent electricity usage of powering every UK household for two months.
However, AFC has warned that insufficient investment in appropriate EV infrastructure could lead to power shortages across the grid and continue to exacerbate the UK’s reliance on polluting generators.
Adam Bond, chief executive officer at AFC Energy, said: ‘With sufficient foresight, AFC Energy’s hydrogen fuel cell technology could have been adopted to charge the EVs transporting delegates at COP26, whilst also exhibiting British technology and innovation.
‘While the situation may appear to be a cause of embarrassment for the COP26 organisers, it simply reflects the global reality which is that far more investment and coordinated planning is required to ensure that we have the infrastructure in place to support the accelerating transition to EVs.’
In related news, the government has published the long-delayed Net-Zero Strategy, outlining how the UK will deliver on its commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
