So now if you go over 500 in dividends, you have to do an annual tax return? That seems a bit bonkers.
What is ‘unearned’ income ? Stolen maybe possibly but in final analysis you are paid for the risk you take in getting the return you receive. And also any Opportunity Cost

Share price appears to be taking a breather while traders try to identify new support and resistance levels for the shares.

Unearned income - IMO fair and reasonable it should be sensibly taxed - I'm sure those in the privileged position to be affected by dividend taxation are happy in the knowledge they are helping to rebuild our post Covid society
Starting to see where you're coming from, sorry to disappoint, I'm not a bitter and twisted 'envy driven' lefty like many in The Labour Party
Ah - Where would The Labour Party be without it's stock-in-trade - envy and jealously, lol lol lol
I think that this week will be a very slow week because of the forthcoming bank holiday weekend.
We will do well to stay in the 50p range and could quite easily slip to 49p/48p.
Hopefully we should surge after the weekend by at least 10% into the Ex Div Date.
GLALTH
I got nowt to do till 4 o'clock.
5000 to 500 under tories. Not exactly a shareholder friendly party.
STP - and so???
I'm still baffled as to what point you are desperately trying to make
MV - If we are collectively dumb enough to vote Labour in, I'll need to adjust my investment strategy,
ie take full advantage of the usual reckless spending boom (2-3yrs), then get out before the inevitable Labour Economic collapse (yr4)
Asperger, it was 5k
Abbott
😍❤
"Is 80% tories on this forum, sprouting their views, but maybe they get 10% of the seats." Be careful what you wish for once Starmer, Abbott, Rayner, Lammy and the Unions are let loose.

''I will return in due course.....''
I look forward to it (not) - I am afraid you are another inconsequential fantasy world poster.

You are letting your imagination run away with you yet again.
''STP, thanks. I usually get moans for repeating the same old same old''
it gets worse when you are thanking deadcatbounce after him being pleased with your
fantasifull post

The measure reduces the tax-free allowance for dividend income (the ‘Dividend Allowance’) from £2,000 to £1,000 from 6 April 2023 and then to £500 from 6 April 2024 for individuals who receive dividend income.
Policy objective
This policy supports the government’s objective of putting the public finances on a sustainable path in a way that is fair, with everyone contributing a little and those on the highest incomes taking on a larger burden.

STP - Question, why do you ask? Are you suggesting Labour wouldn't have done the same (or worse?), As the Country has just come through a very difficult time, huge sums spent on protecting businesses and jobs, it's understandable a responsible Gov. would look to raise income from those best placed to pay,
If your question is who would I trust to manage taxation after the General Election, My answer certainly wouldn't be The Labour Party lol lol lol lol
Child.
The Tories like Labour do as they are told.
One thing will bring this government down immigration, when a political party is willing to lose power and to be humiliated over an issue, an issue that could be solved with a signature on a document, there must be more afoot.
No official body even tries to talk the talk on Immigration anymore, the lies are exposed the damage done.
Mass immigration is not only affecting us, look to Canada, Australia and now parts of the EU.
The left is being slowly driven out and of course the bureaucrats in our civil service and in Brussels hate it .
Tory MPs willing accepting loosing their seats and their nice little earner ,for what to provide a better standard of living for immigrants at our cost ! No MP gives up their seat for anything unless something better is in the offer.
After the next election there will be several more Muslims siting in the Commons and whom do they care for !
Investors here risking their money to make a profit, whilst they are losing more than ten fold that just by keeping the status que. Since 2008 and through Covid we have all lost much more than anyone will make in Lloyds, we are just attempting to tread water and kidding our selves. Governments need to keep interest rates low to cover their massive borrowing costs, where do these costs originate, not providing services for me and mine I assure you. I am now 70yrs of age, still paying tax, still paying council tax still paying VAT still paying fuel duty, still paying a tax if I take a flight !
Everything I do and you do is taxed, even our heating fuels. Fresh air is taxed, we have never paid so much tax, in peace time ! All that tax and we do not even have the means to carryout the first points of any government to defend our country and our people.
A Tory government which now calls anyone, whom differs from their line of thought is an extremists !! And of course Labour will by its very nature compound our problems.
People should, but will not of course come to realise that the two party state is that way for a reason it suits the establishment it is a simple divide and rule set up. As legal immigration and illegal immigration is a device to divert our gaze. Mass immigration is a whole, it is not two halves, the result is the same lower living standards for the masses .
Over the last three years you gaze was set by the establishment on Ukraine now it Gaza, there are dozens of deadly conflicts going on right now, the establishment decides which you will see nightly.
So lets keep the political arguments that our fathers and grandfathers fought going, for it serves two means, 1. to keep us in check and 2. to keep the same people in nice easy enriching jobs, which they pass on to their children.
Sticky
Bob eats hot cross buns.
He's got alot of Bonking to do shortly.
What we've ended up with under the Tories in 2024 is a leftwing plutocracy. A Labour or Labour-Lib-SNP-Green-Plaid-Cymru-Sinn-Fein coalition in 2025 simply doesn't bear thinking about.
Aspergers1
Believe ME they are that DUMB.
They voted for BLAIR IN FOR 13 YEARS.
Tory lies Labour lies and they swallow them every time.
I can def see LLOY being over 60p this year or Jan 2025 at the latest.
