The EV will be a commuter, a shopper, a bus, a taxi or a short run delivery vehicle - it will NEVER be a Gran Turismo (GT in old money...ahh yes, that good old Marcos 1600GT, pulled the girls at the time - they loved the throbbing mota).
west: 'they become familiar with them, like red phone boxes'... ...have you not noticed that they've all been removed....yet people (amazingly) still make phone calls, don't they?! And the idea that ANYONE who drives an EV will be dependant on a charging infrastructure with the arrival of the new Proton fuel cell that doubles EV range from 100km to 200km (yes I know I noticed that too!) is absurd! EVs will ONLY ever be used within their chargeable range - just like commercial EVs are. What about a London EV showroom?! I don't think there's one! Doh!
'what is it with continually trying to do this stock down........it's almost like a form of masochism.....'... ....couldn't agree more, myo! The BOD and their accountants together really should know better!.
The sub 10p bargain boat!
I hope they dig really deep-there are plenty of other things to look at too
Perhaps we are due some money back?? http://telegraph.uk-wire.com/cgi-bin/articles/201011040742596064V.html?epic=TAN

'Why can't you behave like that on here?'... ...I could! Liberty will definitely come back. I'm sure they will find themselves gathering funding as their China orders progress and they can prove the benefits of the association with Smith-uk. Every day the SEV-US offer fails to materialise their weight will increase as SEV-US languish with their chain of broken promises! Interesting time!
...if we tell you what's going on with TAN we'll have to shoot you... ...all you need to know is that west has made some money on a sahre... ...now you know too much: http://tinyurl.com/6mowfc
'Lack of UK support drives electric cars abroad' Last updated: Tue 2nd November, 2010 | Time: 08:15am The sales director of Smith Electric has told Insider that better incentives are needed for companies to go green and embrace electric commercial vehicles. Smith Electric produces the world’s largest range of electric vehicles from its plant in Washington, Tyne & Wear – but most are shipped overseas. Kevin Harkin, sales director at Smith, said more support from the UK government was needed to encourage British businesses to purchase electric vehicles. He said: “At the moment, people are having to pay a premium to run electric commercial vehicles. It varies from city to city but the return on an electric commercial vehicle in London is about five years, and that considers the exemption from the congestion fee. “The government needs to bring in punitive legislation and continue to make electric vehicles exempt from charges.” Other European countries are currently working on measures to persuade the use of electric commercial vehicles, including exclusion zones at certain times from which electric vehicles are exempt. Harkin also said that the government should offer subsidies to UK companies to help fund their procurement of electric vehicles, similar to the £5,000 grants offered by the previous UK government to consumers looking to buy electric cars for private use. Even in the USA, with its reputation for gas-guzzling, Harkin says demand for electric vehicles at its American plant is outstripping that of the UK. Harkin added: “We have only been building in the US since July, but already they are making more over there than we are over here. And if we can get volume up on electric vehicles, then costs will come down. But the UK is doing less than practically every other nation.” Smith Electric Vehicles in the UK achieved sales of £15m in 2009 and is expected to generate a similar turnover for 2010. Its vehicles include vans and truck which deliver top speeds of up to 50mph and can travel between 80 to 100 miles without requiring an additional charge. UK customers currently include TNT, DHL, Royal Mail, Sainsbury’s Online and Balfour Beatty. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm now certain that one of these tough talking market traders is Alan Sugar. There's a hard edge to their cut and thrust, their ducking and diving, their...their...Bondishness... ...don't you think? And not only that! West ACTUALLY made money on a share!

PPS RNSToday 08:24 Press Release 01 November 2010 Proton Power Systems plc ("Proton Power" or "the Group") Successful trial of fuel cell range extender for Smith Electric Vehicles Proton Power Systems plc (AIM:PPS), a leading designer, developer and producer of fuel cells and fuel cell electric hybrid systems, is pleased to announce the success of the first testing phase for the range extender system for Smith Electric Vehicles ("Smith"). The Group is conducting trials on the 'Smith Edison' light commercial vehicle, which is based on the Ford Transit chassis. Once trials on the Smith Edison have been completed, Proton Power will commercially launch its system in the 'Newton', Smith's 7.5 to 12.0 tonne all-electric truck. The initial phase of the operation, which began in September 2010 at the Stuttgart DLR Institute, showed that the additional energy from Proton Power's fuel cell system provided a significant increase to Edison's operational range. The final range benefit will depend on the size of the integrated fuel cell system, the onboard storage capacity for hydrogen and the vehicle's drive cycle. Overall, the positive trial results are in line with the Group's expectations. Commenting on the range extender system, Thomas Melczer, CEO of Proton Power, said: "We are delighted that the first phase of testing for our range extender has been such a success and we believe it will provide a significant improvement for the market of electric powered light duty vehicles. The improved range of operation opens up exciting new possibilities to the Group as we begin to address a wider market segment. I wish to thank the whole team at Proton Power and Smith for their efforts in achieving these excellent results." Kevin Harkin, Sales Director for Smith Electric Vehicles, said: "Enhancing the range capabilities broadens the application for electric vehicles within large fleets, without compromising our zero emission philosophy. Through the trials, we have already received notable interest from fleet operators in the Proton Power system and we look forward to reporting in due course on the next stage of development." The second phase of testing will include the complete integration of the Proton Power system into a Smith vehicle and is expected to run until summer 2011. The Group expects the commercial launch of the vehicles towards the end of 2011. -Ends-

oooh!... ...interesting that that syrupy sense of humour of yours rather quickly turns to a dark shade of brown brittle when the table's turned! Fascinating how the truth shines through on these boards. By the way it's ' I don't GIVE a damn' not 'I don't give a DAMN'...just a note to add to your comedic timing.
