TradingView charts allow you to include dividends. Very handy for deciding if a div stock has been worth it.
So including divs, VOD
5 yr return -31%
Since VZ high -53%
10 yr return -47%
20 yr return +75%
SP500 inc divs 20yr return +570%
There are better ways to get an income than VOD divs.
67.98 please
71p for me please Roofer
68p for me please Bob
Thanks for your response. Think I may need to break the Excel out. Dividends from both over the years have been solid. Wondered if the divs have compensated for the reduction in share price.
Sorry that should read Utter Tripe.....
GutterSnipe. Do you post on here while you are having a ruby doo? Could explain a lot? Don't forget to wash your hands!!
Sotonspike. "Thank goodness for a bit of civility" I think it is catching on" Even L.S.I. is joining in? Anybody else who wants to join in & be civil? Sorry, no offence meant. Happy Monday.
If the Vodefone companie bye more shares it be like any ovver buyyer, folks buyyin shares makke it go up.
Likewisse if they has a rights issue and you downt buy in, you gets dillutted and the share go downe.

Down't put of a ruby doo
I realise sotonspike sounds like guttersnipe, but although he can be funny?! We should not encourage him/her/it. (by his own confession). Cheers mate. I am still waiting for that drink you offered me a long time ago? I turned at that pub you said, but you were not there!
Biskit. You almost certainly would be well down. The maths is very complex however. As for the deal being good, that is a different question. If you had bought at anything below £2 before the verizon deal you could have sold at about 2.48 just before the deal, or after the deal for about 1.30 per original/2.48 per new share taking in to account the roughly 4 to 7 share swap. This share swap loss in shares was compenseted by free verizon shares & special divi/payout so a good profit, & had you sold the vod shares but kept the verizon shares for about 5 years then sold, you would have a made very good profit. Verizon shares are about the same now as when the deal was done, but as we all know vod shares have collapsed by over 2 thirds. But this is history, so it is the future that counts, can the sp get back to £2 plus, who knows but it would be a quantum leap. Good luck to all vod shareholders.
Dan it gets tiresome reading the rubbish spouted on here ...At least Utter Tribe has a sense of humour....
LTI, I just hope this can change direction and work out for all of us, and let's hope it can be as rewarding as other investments, I will just use Aviva as one example as i spoke to you on there the other day, it's a bit of a journey into the unknown with this one isn't it, let's see where we are after the May results
Sotonspike. Welcome back, where have you been? I might get the hump on Monday though if the sp plummets, so be warned! Happy Mondays!
Rob
''not sure LTI will be pleased about it rising though ?''
I would be equally happy if the Vodafone share investments were conducted at as low a price as possible to remove the right of a greater number of current shares as possible , to investor returns - and equally happy if it went to 80p , 90p , £1 + in the shorter term for those investors wishing to exit.
Waiting for MAY 14th unless it goes down to 62p beforehand ,in which case I would be buying more.
Thank goodness a bit of civility......
73 for me please roofer, i want Director Dan to make a profit on his top up, not sure LTI will be pleased about it rising though ?
Only joking LTI
Thanks roofer
If you held £10k of Vodafone on the date they sold Verizon and didn't sell either the Vodafone or Verizon, just reinvested divs, would you be up or down? Still unclear to me if that deal was ever any good / bad for investors.
...67.8 for myself please Roofer.
By the way Gary, as the I.S.A. limit is £20K to £25K you won't see me on the list. But Please wish me luck with my modest purchase? Have a good week, & let's keep it freindly. Cheers mate. Rob, 86p will do me for the time being,as long it doesn't mean you will sell & stop posting on here, we all need your calming influence!
Dan
''as you say the director buys have to be a good sign.''
must be confusing for you, when you think that the market value of Vodafone is going to fall by 4 Billion .
I imagine that directors do not wish to throw money down the drain.
All eyes on MAY 14th .
Gary.. I wish I was, but as you say the director buys have to be a good sign.
Gary, nice to see a bit of humour back here, hopefully the may results may cheer everyone up, it all depends what you want from this, if the share price stays down low then i expect the buybacks would be beneficial to long term holders, i can only speak for myself, personally i would like the share price to rise above my last top up of 86p as soon as possible, then i would have choices hold or sell depending on how i felt about it at the time, each to his own as they say
The two recent director purchases as shown below, at least show that some people in the know are fairly confident, a good sign I think.
I wonder if daniel's impending ISA purchase on Monday will show up on the list, Robleo & I have long suspected that dan is a VOD director, ha!
27 Mar 24 - Buy - Van Boxmeer @ 69p - Shares brought - 823,500
18 Mar 24 - Buy - Luka Mucic @ 69.64p - Shares brought - 2,460,000
You would like to think the Bod ,Know their onions and the buy back is beneficial to holders.
