Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 25 September 2008 it purchased 1,442,578 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 223.5 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 204.5 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 1,614,768 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 212.0821 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
