Shareholder Notification

Island Oil & Gas plc ('Island' or the 'Company') received a notification dated 13 July 2009 from Davy of a decrease in its notifiable interest in its holding in the Company. The notification states that Davy's interest consists of 4,682,595 shares; 4,022,785 of which are registered in the name of Davycrest Nominees (as registered owner only on behalf of a range of clients who are each the owner of a portion of the shareholding) and 659,810 shares in the name of Davy Nominees. This holding represents 3.98% of the 117,678,328 shares currently in issue.
