Motive Television sells sports documentary to the BBC
Motive Television PLC, the digital television technology, software and services provider, is pleased to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Motive Television Limited, has sold the award-winning sports documentary "Born to Run: The Secret of Kenyan Athletics" to the BBC.
Filmed in Iten, Kenya, the programme follows World Athlete of the Year, David Rudisha, and his coach, Brother Colm O'Connell, as Rudisha prepares for the World Championships in South Korea, with his focus set on London 2012.
Produced by Motive's Jamie D'Alton and Anne McLoughlin, the programme is presented by Irish athletics legend Eamonn Coghlan and directed by award-winning documentary maker Maurice Sweeney. It has also won Motive its third Irish Film and TV Award (IFTA), the company having previously won IFTAs for sports documentaries "Marooned" and "The Sound of Sunday".
"Born to Run" explores how Kenya has dominated the running world for so long and the lasting legacy Brother Colm has left on Kenyan athletics. Throughout the programme the messages of opportunity, commitment and effort resonate as we see the sacrifice these Kenya athletes make as Rudisha strives for gold in the World Championships.
"Born to Run" has also been sold to Setanta Sports and RTÉ.
"Born to Run: The Secret of Kenyan Athletics" will be broadcast on BBC4 on Tuesday 10 August at 22:00 and will be repeated on Wednesday 11 August at 12:00 (also on BBC HD) and at 00:50.
