British American Tobacco PLC03 April 2006 DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING The independent trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trustnotified the Company on 3 April 2006 that between 27 March 2006 and 31 March2006 it had released 89,848 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares(the "Shares") to satisfy the exercise of options under the Company's shareoption scheme. Following these transactions, the independent trustee of the British AmericanTobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 22,122,621 Shares. The following executive directors, together with other employees, are potentialbeneficiaries under the trust, and are therefore deemed to be technicallyinterested for Companies Act purposes but were not connected with thetransaction that took place between the above mentioned dates: Mr P N Adams, MrP A Rayner and Mr A Monteiro de Castro.
