JD Sports Fashion Plc ("JD") announces that Chris Bird, Non-Executive Director, will be stepping down from the Board of JD on 30 September 2012, having served on the Board for 9 years since his appointment in 2003.

The Board intends to announce the appointment of a new Independent Non-Executive Director in the near future.

Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman, said:
