Antofagasta PLC07 April 2005 APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR London: 7 April 2005: - Antofagasta plc, announces the appointment today of MrGuillermo Luksic as a Non-Executive Director of the Company. Mr Luksic, who is 48 years old, has long experience of operating in differentbusiness sectors both in Chile and throughout Latin America. He is a Director ofBanco de Chile and Chairman of several public companies, including QuinencoS.A., a Chilean industrial and financial conglomerate; CCU, the country'sprincipal brewing company and Madeco, a manufacturer of copper and aluminiumproducts. The shares of all these companies are traded on both the Chilean andNew York Stock Exchanges.
