NEWCASTLE BUILDING SOCIETY APPOINTS A NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Newcastle Building Society (NBS) has appointed Ian Ward as a Non-Executive Director (NED) to its main Board.

Ian, from North Yorkshire, was formerly Chief Executive of Leeds Building Society for 16 years until his retirement in October 2011 and has in total 45 years experience of the building society sector. He is also a Non-Executive Director for Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.

Phil Moorhouse, NBS Chairman, said: "I am delighted to welcome Ian to the Society's Board. His knowledge and experience of the sector and his strong commercial acumen will complement the existing skills set of the Board and support us in the implementation of our strategy."

The appointment takes place with immediate effect.
