Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KS005930, KS005935, SMSN, SMSD) ("SEC") on July 31, 2018 announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the following donations.

 

 

Supporting a Smart Factory Project

1. Raising funds for a smart factory project to enhance manufacturing capabilities of domestic small- and mid-sized enterprises ("SMEs")

 

- SEC will provide a charitable contribution to the Korea Smart Factory Foundation (KOSF) to help SMEs innovate manufacturing sites, improve workplace safety, establish a management system, promote automation, etc., regardless of their business relationship with SEC. The contribution will amount to KRW 50 billion for the five years over 2018-2022 (KRW 10 billion annually). When combined with KRW 50 billion in matching funds from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, a total of KRW 100 billion will have been raised for the project.

 

2. Providing comprehensive support to SMEs participating in the project

 

- SEC will provide support to designated enterprises, helping them open new markets, nurture talent, and promote the convergence of new technologies, etc. The contribution will amount to KRW 10 billion for the five years over 2018-2022 (KRW 2 billion annually).
