ViaLogyΒ SPM powersΒ Axia NetMediaΒ Air Quality MonitoringΒ Managed ServiceΒ PrototypeΒ for theΒ Alberta SuperNet
Managed Services approach toΒ broad area emissions tracking and compliance for public sector and commercial enterprises.
Β
PASADENA,Β May 29, 2008Β -Β ViaLogyΒ PLCΒ (LSE:Β VIY)Β announces it has signed a contract toΒ deploy SPMβ’ (Sensor Policy Managerβ’)Β as aΒ prototypeΒ managedΒ services delivery platformΒ on the Alberta SuperNet with Axia NetMedia Corporation. This first joint offering would deliverΒ anΒ environmental air quality monitoringΒ and compliance trackingΒ proof of concept targeted atΒ governmentΒ and industryΒ customers.Β Axia and ViaLogy will initially roll out this serviceΒ atΒ twoΒ remoteΒ points of presence (POPs)Β inΒ Alberta.Β Upon successful demonstration, Axia could scale the pilot to over 100Β additional POPs and provideΒ real-time emissions assessment,Β surveillance and alert informationΒ inΒ support ofΒ various air quality monitoring, compliance and reporting initiatives.Β
ByΒ offeringΒ this information in a managed servicesΒ environment, AxiaΒ could significantly lower capital investment and operationalΒ costsΒ andΒ provideΒ reliable information for its Supernet customer base. The modelΒ has the potential toΒ be offeredΒ by Axia toΒ other jurisdictions where it operates Next Generation Networks.Β Recently, thereΒ haveΒ been a host of regulationsΒ forΒ ambient air quality standards, emissions standards and monitoring methods inΒ Alberta.Β In fact, nationwide, nearly half ofΒ Canada's greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution comes from large industrial facilities in sectors like oil and gas, electricity generation and chemicals.Β This managed services offeringΒ wouldΒ provide broad area ambient air quality visibility to regulators and optimize response and remediation measures.
AxiaΒ (www.axia.com)Β plans, designs, develops and operates ultra-high-performance, Real Broadbandβ’ Open Access Networks that provide uncompromised connectivity in and between both large and small markets worldwide.Β As a coreΒ technology platform forΒ aΒ managed services solution, ViaLogy will provide the sensor integration engine for the platform. ViaLogy's SPMβ’Β software enables disparate sensors in very large enterprise networks to process and report only key events of interest to security personnel. The ViaLogy technology is sensor agnostic and considerably enhances the performance and strength of all integrated legacy and IP sensors, thus avoiding false alarms, missed events and optimizing use of limited bandwidth.Β
"We are pleased to be working with ViaLogy as part ofΒ thisΒ next generation managed servicesΒ proof of concept." said Mark Blake, Axia's Vice President,Β Marketing andΒ Business Development. "Our strategy here is to pull together various environmental sensor data to provideΒ our customersΒ withΒ consistent, reliable air quality measurements in a managed services environment.Β SPM's ability to offer scaleable sensor-based services for safety, security, remote monitoring and business continuityΒ is central to our service."Β
"Axia has chosen SPMβ’ toΒ addressΒ a worldwide requirement from customers for improved and coordinated integrated sensor data in a managed services environment,"Β said Robert W. Dean. President and CEO of ViaLogy, "We are proud to be chosen for the initialΒ pilotΒ andΒ for potentialΒ future deployments worldwide.Β As Axia's partner,Β Vialogy expects to gain access to major sales opportunities globally.Β
"SPMβ’ is a comprehensive and flexible product that can beΒ customizedΒ to suit individual customer needs because weΒ recognizeΒ that there are a variety of situations to be dealt with. Some customers will want aΒ turnkey networkedΒ system for monitoring a new building orΒ campus,Β whileΒ others will want the integration ofΒ theirΒ existingΒ sensorsΒ andΒ newΒ sensor arrangements.Β
"The Axia-Vialogy solution will provide consistent, integratedΒ and reliableΒ environmental sensor data."
