The Board of The Works is pleased to announce the appointment of Carl Clifton to the Board of the Company as an Executive Director and as Managing Director of the subsidiary, The Works International, with effect from 5 January 2009.
Mr Clifton has significant industry experience and was formerly C.O.O and Head of Sales at Handmade Films International. Other previous roles include Senior Vice President of International Sales at Universal Pictures International, running FilmFour's International division and working in independent production where credits include Patrice Leconte's French co-production "The Man on the Train". During his career, Mr Clifton has been involved with films including the Oscar-winning documentary "When We Were Kings" and the forthcoming $60m animation "Planet 51". Other films he was involved with include "4 Weddings and a Funeral", "Notting Hill", "Fargo", "The Green Mile"," Elizabeth", "Bean" and "Sexy Beast".
Mr Clifton commented, "I'm thrilled to be joining The Works Media Group. It's a rare thing in the UK, a vertically film integrated business. It has a really impressive history but, also, I think, seriously untapped resources and potential. I'm looking forward both to the challenge of realising that potential and very much to working with Norman, Mick and the whole team." said Clifton.
