Works Media Group (The) PLC19 December 2006 The Works Media Group plc ("The Works" or the "Company") Board Appointment The Works Media Group plc, the independent film distributor, announces todaythat Mr. Michael Southworth has been appointed to the Board, with immediateeffect. Mr. Southworth is currently Managing Director of The Works UK Distribution, asubsidiary of the Group launched in August 2005 which buys rights to distributefilms in the UK across all media on behalf of the Company. Thisbusiness-to-consumer activity forms a natural complement to the Group'slong-standing and highly regarded business-to-business subsidiary, The WorksInternational, which sells third party rights to distribution companies aroundthe world. Mr. Southworth has a well established history in UK film distribution, havingpreviously served as CEO of Content Film Distributors and MD of Film FourDistribution. Since its launch last year, The Works Distribution UK has successfully acquired,marketed and launched several titles into the UK market, including familyentertainment titles 'Heidi' and 'Greyfriars Bobby'; the Billy Zane/Kelly Brookthriller 'Three', and the critically acclaimed 'Shortbus', currently playing incinemas across the UK. The subsidiary has also signed significant multi-titlearrangements with Universal Pictures, Sky TV, and Filmflex for its homeentertainment output, enabling the division to achieve greater marketpenetration for these titles.
