Mr. Gilbert was formerly Group Strategic Resourcing Director at Vodafone PLC. Hejoined Vodafone in April 2000 as Group Management Development Director, and wasappointed to the Group Policy Committee chaired by Sir Christopher Gent. He wasthe Global Leadership Development/Group Strategic Resourcing Director, from2005. He was responsible for senior management recruitment and development andsupporting the Main Board's Nomination Committee in their identification andappointment of non-executive directors. Prior to Vodafone, Mr. Gilbert held positions at companies including: Ernst &Young in the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium; UKAEA, where he was Head of ITStrategy; and Tyzack and Partners. He holds an MA (Hons) in Natural Sciencesfrom Trinity College, Cambridge (UK), an MSc in Computer Sciences from LondonUniversity (UK) and an MBA from INSEAD (France). Mr. Gilbert is also a Non-Executive Director of Beck & Pollitzer Ltd in the UK,where he is a member of the Audit and Remuneration committees.
