John has anoutstanding record in the City and in industry and the board look forward to hiswise counsel in steering the future development of the group. John Mario Faskally Padovan, age 67, qualified as a Chartered Accountant withPriceWaterhouse & Co before moving to County Bank Ltd, the merchant bankingdivision of National Westminster Group, in 1970. After progressing to Chairmanof County Bank Ltd, John moved to Hambros plc as Deputy Chairman of Hambros Bankbefore then moving to Barclays de Zoete Wedd Holdings Limited, the stockbrokingbusiness of Barclays Group plc, where he held senior board positions. Sinceleaving Barclays de Zoete Wedd Holdings Ltd in 1991, John has been appointed asa director to a variety of companies including Tesco plc and Interserve plc.
