OBTALA RESOURCES PLC ("Obtala" or the "Company")

Directorate Appointment

Obtala Resources Plc has appointed Lord St John of Bletso, (aged 53) to the Board as Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

Lord St John lived in South Africa for 28 years where he qualified and practised as an attorney before graduating with a Masters in Maritime Law from London University. He has been an active Crossbench Member of the House of Lords since 1978. Amongst his appointments, he is currently the Vice Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary South Africa Group, Chairman of the UK Sierra Leone Business Forum and trustee of several charities focused on Africa. He was appointed an Extra Lord in Waiting to HM The Queen in 1998.

Formerly a Consultant to Merrill Lynch International since 1991, where he was responsible for parliamentary liaison and emerging markets, specialising in Africa. He is a former Managing Director of Globix UK, a NASDAQ-listed Internet Infrastructure Provider, and President of Global Sales and Marketing of Globix Corp. Lord St John is a former Non-Executive Director of Equest Balkan Properties PLC (EBP), an AIM listed property fund focused primarily in Bulgaria and Romania and of Regal Petroleum Plc, a LSE fully listed European oil and gas exploration and production company as well as Sharp Interpack, one of the largest manufacturers of food packaging in the UK.

Lord St John currently holds Non-executive Director positions including Spiritel PLC, a telecommunications service provider, CarbonDesk PLC, an independent, specialist broker operating in the carbon emissions market. He is also a Member of the Advisory Board of Chayton Capital LLP, investment managers specialising in agricultural investment in Eastern Europe and Africa.
