Board Changes

Universe Group plc (UNG.L), a leading developer and supplier of point of sale, payment and on-line loyalty systems, is pleased to announce with immediate effect the appointment of Daryl Paton as Chief Financial Officer of the Group. Bob Smeeton has resigned from his position as Group Finance Director, a position he held for nine years, during which he was instrumental in steering the company through its turnaround and subsequent development.

Mr. Paton joins Universe from Access Intelligence plc ("Access") where he has been Chief Financial Officer since February 2016. Prior to Access he was at CMO Global Limited and has held the position of CFO with a number of fast growing software and SaaS businesses in the Governance, Risk and Compliance, Media and Telecom sectors. These included public and privately held companies. In addition to his roles as Chief Financial Officer, he has held a range of operational positions and has a wealth of experience in M&A and other corporate finance activities.

Mr Paton was finance director of CMO Bidco Limited, CMO Software Ltd and CMO Global Limited before resigning from all three appointments on 28 November 2015. Mr Paton had no subsequent involvement with these companies. On 21 June 2016, following the sale of the business and assets of these companies, an administrator was appointed to the companies on a voluntary basis.
