Appointment of Chairman and change in Directors' duties

The Board of Styles & Wood Group plc ("Styles & Wood" or the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Martin to the position of Non Executive Chairman with effect from 7 January 2009. Jim has been Senior Independent Director of the Company and Chairman of its Audit Committee since October 2006.

Jim's previous plc experience includes his role as Chairman of Alexon Group plc and Interim Chairman and Senior Non Executive Director at Redrow plc. Jim was also Non Executive Deputy Chairman of N Brown Group plc where he had been Chief Executive for 18 years. Jim is currently Non Executive Chairman of A J Bell Holdings Limited and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and has held this role in a number of private limited companies during the last six years.

There is no other information concerning Jim's appointment that requires disclosure under the Listing Rules.

Following this appointment, the roles of Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee will be performed by Robert Hough and Paul Mitchell respectively. 

In accordance with the announcement on 2 June 2008, the Company confirms that Gerard Quiligotti and Neil Davies both stood down from their roles as Non Executive Chairman and Non Executive Director respectively with effect from 31 December 2008.

Commenting on Jim Martin's appointment as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer Ivan McKeever said:
