St. James's Place appoints new Non-Executive Director

St. James's Place plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Dame Helena Morrissey to its Board as a Non-executive Director with effect from 1 January 2020.

Helena recently stepped down from her role as Head of Personal Investing at Legal & General Investment Management. Prior to that she was Chief Executive of Newton Investment Management, the global investment manager, from 2001 to 2016, having joined the company in 1984.

Iain Cornish, Chair of St. James's Place plc, said:

"I am delighted that Helena is joining the Board of St. James's Place. Her expertise in financial services, insight into investment management and experience of running a major asset management company will be of great value to the Board.

As I said earlier this year, attracting and developing a diverse range of talent at St. James's Place is a priority for the Board. While I am pleased that Helena's appointment takes the proportion of women on our Board to a third, there is always more to do in relation to inclusion and diversity across the business, and we will continue to make progress on this."

There is no other information regarding Dame Helena's appointment to be disclosed under paragraph 9.6.13R of the Listing Rules.

About Dame Helena Morrissey DBE

Helena Morrissey has been Head of Personal Investing, Legal & General Investment Management, since 2017.

Prior to that, she was Chief Executive of Newton Investment Management from 2001 to 2016, having joined the company in 1984.

In 2010 Helena established the 30% Club, an organisation that campaigns to make boardrooms 30% female, and is also the Chair of the Diversity Project. Helena is a past Chair of the Investment Association, the UK's industry trade body and, since 2015, has been a member of the UK Chancellor's Financial Services Trade and Investment Board. From 2014 to 2017 she was a Non-Executive Director of the Takeover Panel.

Helena Morrissey has a degree and an honorary doctorate from the University of Cambridge. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2012 New Year Honours for services to UK business and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2017 Birthday Honours for services to diversity in financial services.
