NON-EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENT TO ST. JAMES'S PLACE

St. James's Place plc ("SJP"), the wealth management group, is delighted to announce the appointment of Vivian Bazalgette as an independent non-executive Director, with effect from 1 July 2011. The appointment is subject to FSA approval.

Vivian brings with him a wealth of board and senior management experience, particularly relating to fund management, and his appointment is an important step in the ongoing development of the SJP Board. Vivian has been a member of the SJP Board Investment Committee since January 2010. "

Biography:

Vivian Bazalgette, 59, was educated at Cambridge University and has over thirty years' experience of investment markets. He has extensive board and senior management experience and has been a non-executive Director of Henderson High Income Trust plc since November 2004. He has been a non-executive Director of Brunner Investment Trust plc since January 2004 and a non-executive Director of Perpetual Income & Growth Investment Trust plc since May 2007. Mr. Bazalgette is currently a trustee of the Dulwich Estate and a governor of Dulwich College, an advisor to the BAE Systems Plc Pension Fund, an adviser to the Investment Committee of the Nuffield Foundation and a member of the Advisory Board of Greenwich Hospital. He was formerly a Director of M&G plc, M&G High Income Investment Trust plc and Gartmore Investment Management plc and a trustee of King's College Hospital Charitable Trust.

Mr. Bazalgette was the Chief Investment Officer at M&G Investment Management from 2000 to 2002, after M&G's acquisition by Prudential. He was a Managing Director of Pension Funds at Gartmore, where he served for nearly 10 years. His early career as an investment specialist included periods with James Capel and Mercury Asset Management.

SJP confirms that there are no details to be disclosed under Section 9.6.13R (2) - (6) of the Listing Rules.
