Transaction in Own Shares
WH Smith PLC (the "Company") announces that it has purchased, in accordance with the authority granted by shareholders at the Company's Annual General Meeting on 27 January 2016, the following number of its ordinary shares of 22 6/67 pence each ("Shares") as part of the buyback programme initially announced on 24 August 2016:
Date of purchase: 31 October 2016
Number of Shares purchased: 16,165 Shares
Highest price paid per Share: 1498.0 pence
Lowest price paid per Share: 1473.0 pence
Average price paid per Share: 1482.6857 pence
The Company intends to cancel these Shares.
The Company has 112,904,602 Shares in issue. This number represents the total voting rights in the Company and may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they can determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
