three new care centres openedΒ --
Friday, 16 May 2008Β -Β Southern Cross HealthcareΒ Group PLC (LSE: SCHE) ('Southern Cross', 'the Group'Β or the 'Company'), the UK's largest private healthcare servicesΒ provider, today announcesΒ theΒ opening of three new residential careΒ facilitiesΒ from itsΒ expandingΒ development pipelineΒ in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, adding a further 176Β bedsΒ to the Group'sΒ high qualityΒ portfolio.
Tor-na-Dee care centre inΒ AberdeenΒ will be operated under the Group's Ashbourne Senior Living brand. The high-quality, purpose built home providesΒ careΒ for 74 frail elderly and dementiaΒ service usersΒ plusΒ a separate 16 bed specialist unit for the care and rehabilitation of acquired brain injury patients,Β the only unit of its type in the area.Β Southern Cross will operateΒ bothΒ ofΒ these facilitiesΒ inΒ a long termΒ partnership with NHS Grampian.
The Company has also acquired aΒ newΒ 32 bed specialist care villageΒ inΒ theΒ NewcastleΒ area, to be operated byΒ Active Care Partnerships, its specialist subsidiary, providing specialist care to individuals on the Autistic SpectrumΒ and with Asperger's Syndrome. The 28 purpose built semi-detached bungalowsΒ and one four bedroom houseΒ are set within 7Β acres of landscaped grounds and offer the supported living model within a residential care environment. Furthermore,Β the GroupΒ hasΒ openedΒ aΒ newΒ 54 bed Southern Cross care centreΒ inΒ Dungannon,Β Northern Ireland,Β offeringΒ care for elderly and dementia service users.
