Directorate Changes

J Sainsbury plc today announces that Keith Weed and Tanuj Kapilashrami will join the Board as Non-Executive Directors on 1 July 2020. Keith will be a member of the Audit, the Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability and the Nomination Committees and Tanuj will join the Nomination and Remuneration Committees.

Keith has a strong business background, having spent 36 years at Unilever, most recently as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer which included leading the company's groundbreaking sustainability programme globally. Keith led different parts of Unilever's businesses including working as a key supplier to Sainsbury's when he ran Unilever's Home and Personal Care business in the UK in the early 2000s. He has an excellent understanding of digital and the ways that technology is transforming businesses. Keith is also a Non-Executive Director of WPP PLC.

Tanuj is a highly experienced HR professional with significant experience in talent and change management. Tanuj is currently Group Head of HR at Standard Chartered Bank. Tanuj joined Standard Chartered in 2017 from HSBC, where she spent 17 years in key global and regional operational HR roles.

J Sainsbury plc announced on 30 October 2019 that Matt Brittin, Non-Executive Director and Jean Tomlin, Non-Executive Director planned to step down. Matt and Jean will step down from the Board at the AGM on 2 July.

Commenting on the appointments Martin Scicluna, Chairman of Sainsbury's, said:

She will be an excellent addition to the Board as we continue to adapt our business and support our colleagues in a rapidly changing marketplace.

Other than Keith Weed being a Non-Executive Director at WPP PLC, no further information is required to be disclosed under 9.6.13R of the UK Listing Rules.
