Directorate Changes

African Mining & Exploration plc (AIM: AME), the AIM listed exploration and development company operating in West Africa, announces changes to the Board of Directors.

AME is pleased to announce the appointment of David Archer as an Independent Non-Executive Director with effect from 21 May 2012. He has held executive and non-executive roles in a number of listed companies and has been actively involved in the international resources industry for over 30 years. He is the former Managing Director of Hillgrove Resources Limited and Chairman of Crusader Resources Limited and Caravel Resources Limited. He is a barrister (non-practicing) of the Supreme Court of New South Wales (Australia) and was the founder and former Executive Chairman of PowerTel Limited and founder and Deputy Chairman of Savage Resources Limited.

David will receive a nominal fee of £1 per annum in consideration for agreeing to act as a Director of the Company. He will chair the Company's Audit Committee and will join the Remuneration Committee.

The Company also announces the resignation of Clive Harrison as a Director of AME with effect from 21 May 2012. We would like to thank Clive for the contribution he has made to the Company, for which he did not receive any remuneration.

Mark Jones, the Company's CEO commenting on the changes stated: "the addition of David to the Board will support the Company's plans of expanding its geographical reach and provide knowledge of capital markets to enhance the Company for the benefit of shareholders ".
