Princess publishes NAV development for May

After a strong performance last month the net asset value of Princess eased, adjusted for the dividend payable in June, by 0.3% to EUR 9.19 per share during May, this is mainly attributable to unrealized losses of older vintage partnerships that submitted their first quarter reports in May. Their mature portfolios comprise a number of publicly listed companies that were successfully floated but remain in the portfolios due to lock-up periods: the reported value of these companies reflects the unfavourable stock market environment in the first months of 2008. However, the first quarter valuations submitted by general partners were partially offset by valuation increases made under IFRS to reflect fair market value in light of the improved situation experienced by global financial markets during May. Capitalizing on the more encouraging market environment, another positive contributor to Princess' NAV in May was the listed private equity segment. 

Urs Wietlisbach, a Director of Princess, comments: "The downward revision of the public companies within the Princess protfolio was already expected given the market conditions at the beginning of 2008. However, the quality of the overall portfolio is excellent and thus we have every confidence in the NAV development for the rest of the year."
