ANNUAL INFORMATION UPDATE (AIU)

27 March 2009

Introduction

Newcastle Building Society (the Society) published its Annual Report on 6 March 2009 and, accordingly, is submitting its AIU to the UK Listing Authority as required under Part II of the Prospectus (Directive 2003/71/EC) Regulations 2005 (SI No 324 of 2005), and in accordance with paragraph 5.2 of the Prospectus Rules.

The Society is publishing the AIU via the Regulatory Information Service today and is making it available on the Society's website: www.newcastle.co.uk.

Chronological List of Announcements and Filings

The following information is a list of all announcements and filings of a regulatory nature that have been published or made available to the public over the previous 12 months in compliance with the laws and rules dealing with the regulation of securities issuers of securities and securities markets.
