Pre-Close Business Update

London 17 February 2014: Motive Television PLC provides a general business update.

During the last 12 months Motive has rapidly developed its business and expects to move from the development to the growth stage during 2014. This will occur as products under development move into commercial use and Motive's Content Express™ platform is deployed at more broadcasters.

Ongoing contracts and new projects

The Company has deployed its technology with its first clients Mediaset and Digiturk. Television services provided by Mediaset and Digiturk, based on Motive's Content Express™ platform, have been commercially successful since 2009 and 2013 respectively, cumulatively serving over 500,000 homes. Motive continues to provide support and maintenance of the Content Express™ platform as well as discussing further enhancements and extensions with these two broadcasters. Motive has completed the head-end platform installation and integration with CME, and awaits next steps from the broadcaster.

In December 2012 Motive signed a major multi-year contract with Siyaya Free To Air TV (PTY) Ltd. of Johannesburg, South Africa. The Company will soon begin work in South Africa on the installation and integration of our technology for Siyaya in readiness for a launch on satellite later in 2014 and on DTT once the digital terrestrial licence is awarded.

Tablet TV

Tablet Television in the United States is on track for product and market testing in Spring 2014 once the specified hardware is delivered, leading to consumer trials and an expected full-scale commercial launch at the beginning of September 2014. Until then, Tablet Television LLC will be completing its marketing, content, and consumer service planning and recruiting additional broadcasters to expand the distribution network from Granite's markets.

We expect delivery of the first T-Pods from Asia in mid-March for technical and operational testing and in early April we are scheduled to showcase Tablet TV at the NAB Show in Las Vegas. The Company anticipates strong consumer interest among the 140 million tablet users in the United States (which is predicted to grow to over 400 million within five years) and will receive licence fees and a share of profits from its joint venture with Granite.

In the UK, the Company expects to launch a Tablet service that provides the full Freeview viewing and "red button" experience by June 2014, available to over 20 million tablet owners in Great Britain in time for watching the FIFA World Cup. This is to be achieved in co-operation with our hardware partners iCube, makers of the TVizen tuner-antennas.

The Company plans to roll out its Tablet TV model internationally with media partners in each country. Tablet Television has appeal anywhere that digital terrestrial broadcasting becomes a reality and tablet ownership is expected to top 900 million worldwide by 2017.

Other developments

Motive recently announced that the Company joined the HbbTV Consortium, an industry alliance of broadcasters, broadband providers, and consumer electronics companies to standardize the delivery of services to hybrid devices, for the purpose of becoming part of these standards.

The Company has opened up a new market by partnering with Castalia Communications to offer a combined technology and content package for Video on Demand and Tablet TV to Latin American broadcasters and satellite pay television (DTH) operators. Latin America is predicted to be one of the fastest-growing areas for new television services.

During 2013, Motive strengthened its management team with the appointment of Tony Combe as Chief Operating Officer, Luc Tomasino as head of the Tablet Television effort in the US, and adding Paul Buckley as head of Sales based in London. In 2014, Motive intends to extend its market reach by achieving sales representation and joint marketing cooperation with additional organizations.

Motive continues to file for additional patents in the United States and Europe and will add to our IPR portfolio during 2014.

Production division

Post-production is continuing on The Long Walk, a 2 x 60 minute sports documentary about golfers trying to get on to the pro tour for Setanta Sports, and on The Notorious, a 1 x 60 minute documentary about Irish cage fighter Conor McGregor, for RTÉ Production has commenced on Doing Time: Prison Families, a 2 x 60 minute documentary series about the families of prisoners; and on A Sporting Chance, a 3 x 60 minute series about using sport to encourage literacy, for Setanta Sports. Production has also commenced on #broke, a 3 x 60 minute series about life on a working class housing estate in Dublin for TV3.

Financial results

The Company expects its 2013 results to be in line with market expectations, with better margins in its Digital business sector, and a smaller operating loss showing continued growth and progress.
