Motive Television PLC
(AIM: MTV.L)
€1.1 MILLION CONTRACT WIN WITH TV3 TO PRODUCE UEFA MATCHES
Motive Television PLC ("MTV"), the AIM-quoted broadcast television technology and services provider, is pleased to announce its Dublin-based TV production arm, Motive Television Ltd ("Motive"), has won a new live sports production contract with Irish national commercial television broadcaster, TV3. The contract, worth €1.1m (£916,666), will commence immediately and run through to May 2012.
Motive will co-produce 62 UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League matches with Asgard Media ("Asgard"),a television production company based in Ireland. As part of the contract, Motive and Asgard will also produce the UEFA Europa League Final for TV3, which will be played in the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, on 18 May 2011.
This contract win illustrates Motive's strength in the Irish market and emphasisesthe reasoning behind MTV's decision to retain itswholly owned subsidiary, Motive Television Limited, despite the Company carrying out a disposal programme of its other production arms, as previously stated (29 June 2010). The Dublin-based production arm has recurring revenues through its long term multi year sports contracts with TV3, as well as television deals with other Irish broadcasters. This deal further strengthens the Company's decision keep Motive under its umbrella.
Mick Pilsworth, Chairman of Motive Television PLC, commented: "Winning this contract supports our decision, earlier this year, to retain Motive. Motive is a successful production company in Ireland with a good reputation amongst the Irish Broadcasters. To produce the UEFA matches, including the Europa League Cup Final in the Aviva Stadium, is an honour.
"We have a long standing relationship with TV3 which we look forward to strengthening in the future.
"Whilst we remain confident in our decision to retain Motive, our main focus still remains the Digital Terrestrial Television arena, which we believe has huge growth potential in the lead up to the worldwide analogue switch-off in 2015. Motive is well positioned to take advantage of this growth potential, having already acquired the global distribution rights, outside Italy and Spain, to BesTV, and we are continuing to seek complementary acquisition opportunities. We look forward to the future with confidence."
