Appointment of Chris Smith as Head of Institutional Broking
Merchant Securities, the financial services group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Smith as Head of Institutional Broking.
This is a newly created role at Merchant Securities and reflects the Board's plans to expand the Group's institutional sales and research capabilities. Chris, who joined Merchant Securities in early September, will be responsible for identifying new growth areas and increasing profitability from existing institutional sales and research activities.
Chris will also continue to focus on establishing Merchant Securities' research capability in the financials sector, where he has extensive experience. He has covered this sector over a period of 20 years, latterly at Jefferies International Limited and Oriel Securities Limited. Chris also worked for HSBC James Capel, where he was the top ranked speciality financials analyst, having spent his early career at Barclays de Zoete Wedd Limited as part of the top ranked UK financials team.
Commenting on the appointment, Chief Executive of Merchant Securities, Patrick Claridge, said,
"We have ambitions to develop our institutional sales and research capabilities and, as Head of Institutional Broking, Chris will play an important role in building our existing capability and developing our product offering. I am delighted to be making this announcement."
