Furtherprofits were generated by the equity hedge and multi-strategy style while therelative value category posted a flat return. The majority of equity indicesfinished up over the month, although the Tokyo Stock Exchange was forced toclose prematurely after allegations of irregularities at Livedoor, a Japaneseinternet company, prompted a brief sell-off in Japanese markets. Major trendscontinued in the energy, base metals and soft commodities markets enablingmanagers to extract fruitful returns for the commodity & trading category.Variable equity managers succeeded in trades in commodity linked equities whileexposures to technology and financial companies in Europe and Asia also provedbeneficial to returns.
