Latchways PLC01 September 2006 AGM STATEMENT At the Latchways plc Annual General Meeting to be held today, Chairman PaulHearson will report: "I am pleased to announce that our markets remain strong and that progress hasbeen made across all areas of the business. As a result, we expect once again toreport record revenues and profits for the first half. The Latchways product business continues to show excellent growth. Our strategyof seeking partners in less developed geographies is beginning to produceresults as the safety imperative is more widely embraced. Legislation remains aprimary driver especially in Europe and in other geographies that are adoptingthe European standards. Our Safety Services and Specialist Fixings divisions are also continuing toperform well, with improved margins resulting from further efficiencyimprovements. As mentioned in the letter which accompanied this year's Report and Accounts andNotice of General Meeting, James Joll has decided to step down from the Board ofthe Company with effect from today's date. James joined the Board in 1997 and has served as a non-executive director sincethen, sitting on a number of committees over the past few years, where his helpand experience have been greatly appreciated. The Board and the Company willmiss his humour, wisdom and professionalism. James was due to retire by rotationat today's AGM and has decided not to stand for re-election, but to step downfrom the Board in order to concentrate on his other business interests. We thank him for his contribution over the past nine years and wish him everysuccess in the future. I would like to reassure shareholders that your Board is committed to finding asuitable replacement for James as soon as possible and, with that in mind, theNominations Committee is due to meet again during the course of September toprogress this. An appropriate announcement will be made as soon as anappointment is made. I look forward to providing a further trading update with the interim results onNovember 13th."
