Appointment of Chief Risk Officer

Lancashire Holdings Limited (“Lancashire or the Company”) today announced that Louise Wells (currently the Group’s Head of Internal Audit) is to be appointed to the role of Group Chief Risk Officer (“CRO” ) with effect from 28 July 2015, subject to the relevant regulatory approval. Charles Mathias, the current CRO, will be leaving Lancashire during November 2015.

Louise joined Lancashire in 2011 as the Group Head of Internal Audit and has nearly 20 years’ experience in audit, internal audit and risk management in the Lloyd’s and international insurance markets. As the Group Head of Internal Audit from 2011 until 2015, Louise has been responsible for the planning and implementation of a group-wide internal audit programme which under her leadership has adapted to accommodate the Cathedral and Kinesis underwriting platforms. The CRO has responsibility for the implementation and co-ordination of risk management across the Group and works closely with executive management and the boards.

Alex Maloney, Group Chief Executive Officer commented:-

"I would like to congratulate Louise upon her appointment as Group CRO. Louise has proved herself to be meticulous, diligent and independent in her role as Group Head of Internal Audit and the management team and board consider that these qualities suit her well for her new role. Louise has been closely engaged with Lancashire’s preparations for the implementation of the UK Solvency II regime and is well equipped to lead this important work stream. Her appointment demonstrates the importance which Lancashire attaches to developing the skills of our staff and maintaining a strong bench of talented employees capable of serving the needs of our business.

I would also like to thank Charles for his contribution to Lancashire over many years."
