Francois Jean Gauthier, aged 52, a Professional Geologist registered in Calgary,Alberta, graduated from McGill University, Montreal in 1977. Until his recentretirement he held the position of Vice President, Business Development andResident General Manager for Anadarko Algeria Company ("Anadarko") in Algiers,Algeria. He has resided or worked in Algeria for approximately 17 years. Mr.Gauthier began his career as a geologist in Calgary, Canada with Anadarko in1982, where the scope of his responsibility included managing contractnegotiations, basin analysis, business intelligence and International BusinessDevelopment. Anadarko is a global, major oil producing company and production from Algeriandiscoveries - about 450,000 barrels of oil per day (gross) - makes Anadarko oneof the biggest foreign oil producers in the country. The strength of therelationship forged in Algeria between Anadarko and Algeria's national oilcompany, Sonatrach, over the last two decades has helped create world-classfacilities in a remote and challenging desert environment.
