Johnston Press PLC24 March 2005 Johnston Press plc (the "Company") The Company was notified today that the Johnston Press plc Employee Share Trustpurchased 102,669 ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company at 546.36p pershare on 23 March 2005. The interests of each of the executive directors in theordinary shares of the Company therefore increased by 102,669 shares each,solely by virtue of their status as potential beneficiaries of the Trust.
