Johnston Press PLC23 April 2007 For Immediate Release 23 April 2007 Johnston Press plc ANNOUNCEMENT JOHNSTON PRESS COMPLETES THE ACQUISITION OF ARCHANT'S NEWSPAPER OPERATIONS IN SCOTLAND Following our announcement on 19 January 2007, Johnston Press plc ("JohnstonPress") has today successfully completed the acquisition of the assets andtitles of the Scottish newspaper operations of Archant Ltd ("Archant"). Aspreviously disclosed, the acquisition was subject to regulatory clearance fromthe Office of Fair Trading and following receipt of that on 17 April 2007, allthe necessary conditions have been satisfied. Archant's newspaper operations in Scotland were acquired for an aggregateconsideration of £11.205 million on a debt free basis and satisfied fromJohnston Press' banking facilities.
