AGM Statement

John Lewis of Hungerford plc (AIM: JLH), the manufacturer, designer and retailer of fitted kitchens, kitchen furniture and bedroom furniture, will hold its Annual General Meeting at 2pm today at Crowne Plaza London Kensington, 100 Cromwell Road, London, SW7 4ER.

The Chairman, Gary O'Brien, will provide shareholders with the following update:

As stated in our Annual Report, due to a higher than usual level of building projects completing in the early Autumn, sales for the first half of the current financial year are expected to perform ahead of the previous year by approximately 11%. Our current sales and order book stand at £4.6m (2017: £4.3m) with a similar forward order book of £1.5m. (2017: £1.5m)

We remain cautious in this increasingly difficult economic climate and are working hard to ensure the business continues to show growth year on year. We are still anticipating a loss in the first half year, in line with our expectations, due to the seasonality of the business, although it should show an improvement over last year.

The AGM will be followed by a shareholder presentation. No new material information will be disclosed and a copy of the presentation will be made available on the Company's website www.john-lewis.co.uk.
