Trading Update
The Board of John Lewis of Hungerford plc (AIM:JLH) provides the following update on current trading.
As reported in our Interim Results, we expected that sales for the third quarter ended 31st May 2016 would be around 12.5% higher than the previous year at £1.86 million and we can now confirm this was the case.
The aggregate of despatched sales at the end of quarter three and our forward order book stands at £6.9 million, a 9.5% increase over the comparable period last year. The forward order book represents committed orders for which deposits have been taken. We consider that this remains the best measure of current trading although our revenue recognition policy continues to be to recognise sales at the point orders are despatched. These results are derived from a comparable showroom estate year-on-year.
The Board expect to conclude the process of appointing a new independent non-executive director by the end of this financial year.
