INTERSERVE APPOINTED TO £4.5bn PROCURE21+ NHS FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT

Interserve, the international services, maintenance and building group, has been named as one of the six Principal Supply Chain Partners (PCSPs) in the new ProCure21+ framework agreement, estimated to be worth up to £4.5 billion over its six-year term.

ProCure21+ will begin operating on 1st October 2010. It is a new framework that will replace the current ProCure21 programme through which Interserve has undertaken 136 schemes on behalf of 52 NHS Trusts since its pilot in 2002. Like ProCure21 the framework will streamline and improve the procurement process for NHS Trusts across England. This will enable them to select an appropriate supply chain partner to deliver acute, primary care and mental health facilities. As with ProCure21, there is a commitment to long-term relationships, collaborative working, integrated supply chains and the use of target-cost contracts.

There are a number of new features in ProCure21+ including:

* A centrally-provided risk evaluation tool for all schemes to improve

consistency and share approaches to managing common risks.

* A central repository of technical drawings and information that can be

re-used by all clients and supply-chain members under the "NHS Royalty-Free

Licence".

* An online "monthly monitoring" performance management system with a reduced

benchmarking data set to manage scheme performance centrally.

* Provision of a project start-up workshop by PCSPs on all schemes to align

stakeholder and supply chain requirements early in the process.

* Assurance of a VAT-compliant PSCP structure to maximise VAT recovery for

NHS Clients.

Commenting on Interserve's selection as a Principal Supply Chain Partner, Adrian Ringrose, Chief Executive, said, "The creation of ProCure21+ is excellent news. Under ProCure21 Interserve has been able to deliver many high-quality, value-for-money facilities and ProCure21+ will enable us to continue enhancing the health environment to meet the changing needs of the NHS. We are well positioned to do this as the only Health Framework Partner supporting the NHS across England, Scotland and Wales."
