Island Oil and Gas PLC11 October 2006 11 October 2006 ISLAND OIL & GAS PLC Non-Executive Appointment Island Oil & Gas plc ("Island" or the "Company"), today announces that it isexpanding its Board with the appointment of Martin Carl Wilhelm Kindinger ("CarlKindinger") as a Non-executive Director with effect from 11 October 2006. Carlwill oversee the financial management of the Company including the furtherdevelopment of the Company's portfolio of oil and gas assets. Carl (age 55) was born in South Africa and is a UK qualified accountant (ACMA)as well as holding a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Masters in BusinessAdministration. He has had held both financial and general managerial posts ofincreasing seniority in medium-sized multinational companies covering a varietyof industries including mining, ethanol production and fuel distribution inAfrica and the Middle East for the past two decades. He has considerableexperience in financial planning, project cost control, feasibility studies,cross border mergers and acquisitions and international tax planning. He hassuccessfully raised finance for both project and working capital frominternational banks, and has initiated a number of IPO's. Carl currently holds directorships with Midad Investments Limited and KindingerInternational Investments (Pty) Limited. He was previously a director of PressCorporation Limited, National Bank of Malawi, Carlsberg Malawi Limited; OilcomLimited; Dal Group Co Limited and Matlin Limited. Carl is a nominee director appointed by Platinum Petroleum Limited. There are nofurther details specified by Schedule 2 (g) of the AIM Rules to be disclosed.
