WiFi contract extension worth €550,000 in 2009

Globo plc ("Globo" or the "Company"; LSE-AIM: GBO), a leader in the Information and Communications Technology market in Greece, announces that it has been awarded, by Information Society S.A., a contract extension for a public hotspots project.

The new contract has a total value of €1.1 million, of which Globo's share is €550,000. The project will be completed by the end of 2009 with all of the revenues being earned in the current year.

Under the original public hotspots contract, which was signed in November 2008 and had a total value of €3.7 million, Globo installed 160 public WiFi hotspots, in partnership with PC Systems S.A., to allow free wireless broadband internet access to the public across Greece. 

The new contract relates to the installation of an additional 30 new public WiFi hotspots in central squares, railway stations, harbours and airports throughout Greece. Globo will provide a specialised software platform to enable user access control, security, network management and the capture and extraction of data for statistical reports on wireless internet access by users of hotspots. 

Globo is in discussions for a contract to provide ongoing support services for the whole network of hotspots once the new contract has been completed.

The contract extension demonstrates Globo's technology leadership in the area of Wi-Fi networks. It expands our hotspots network which now has more than 400 Globo-owned WiPlus hotspots of which more than 70 are owned by customers running on our technology across 5 European countries. It also illustrates our approach of continuously developing new wireless and mobile broadband solutions, for international markets, which has seen the development of innovative new products such as CitronGO!."
