James Fisher and Sons plc ("James Fisher"), the leading marine service provider, announces that Simon Harris has advised the Board of his intention to step down as a director of James Fisher with immediate effect to pursue a number of business opportunities outside the company.

The Board would like to thank Simon for almost eight years of service to James Fisher and particularly to James Fisher Defence. Simon was appointed Managing Director of James Fisher Defence in January 2005 before becoming Chairman of that company in October 2009 when Ben Sharples was promoted as its Managing Director. He joined the Board in August 2005.

Tim Harris, Executive Chairman of James Fisher and Sons plc said: "Simon has made a considerablecontribution to James Fisher in building our defence team to become the world leader it is today. Simon leaves with our thanks and best wishes for the future."
