First Derivatives PLC23 August 2007 First Derivatives Plc ("First Derivatives" or "the Company") Trading Statement First Derivatives plc, a provider of software and consulting services to theworld's financial markets, is pleased to announce that trading during thecurrent financial year has exceeded management's expectations to date. The strong financial performance of the Company has been underpinned by therenewal of many existing contracts and the securing of some new high profilecustomers. The Company has also experienced an increasing demand for both longterm consulting contracts and product sales related income. As an illustrationof the active business environment, the Company has increased headcount from 93in February 2007 to 109 in July 2007. As the exclusive sales partner of Kx Systems in the financial sector, FirstDerivatives has been directly involved in adding the Financial ServicesAuthority, NYSE/Euronext, UniCredit HypoVereinsbank (HVB) and Rand Merchant Bankto the Kx user base. First Derivatives' other partner companies have had some notable wins -Principia software is now being used by one of the world's first creditderivatives product companies, Channel Capital Advisors and Royal Bank Of Canadahave purchased IT&E's flagship Razor. As a result, the Board believes that theCompany is well placed to benefit from the resultant increased consultingrequirements for these products.
